Shayfer James @ Kate Douglas & Shayfer James: Songs From The Ninth Hour - A New Musical in New York, NY

Kate Douglas & Shayfer James: Songs From The Ninth Hour - A New Musical, New York, NY, United States

On December 15, Kate Douglas & Shayfer James will perform songs from their new musical "The Ninth Hour" in the most stripped down, intimate of settings. Featuring only their voices and the piano in Rockwood Music Hall smaller room (Stage 1). The performance will be free.

If you attended the near sold out show at Rockwood's main stage (2) earlier this year and enjoyed, this performance will be an absolute must see as it will feature new songs written since June that round out/complete the show.

The Ninth Hour is a fists-up folk retelling of the story of Beowulf and Grendel. Creators Kate Douglas & Shayfer James have been collaborating on the project since late 2014. They decided on the subject matter while drawing tarot cards at a Manhattan bar. Kate & Shayfer have been invited to the O'Neill Theater as Artists In Residence, and also been to the Goodspeed Musicals/Johnny Mercer Writer's Colony for two years in a row to develop the work.
In October 2016, they completed the first draft and have begun working toward its theatrical debut.
